Kori suffered a great loss, one that left her feeling so desolate and alone, that she believed nothing would ever fill the void… The only thing that kept her going was the one little piece of joy she still had in her life, her baby boy, Rhett. She had no choice but to move forward and give her son the best life she could. Which meant moving back home. Except there was one problem Home was where Reed would be… The man who once held her heart, then shattered it into a million pieces. Grieving the loss of Rhett's dad, and learning to forgive those who have betrayed her, Kori was battling it all. But will she ever have the strength to forgive Reed?
Kori is a young woman who lost her first and one love before she left for college. She caught her boyfriend getting a bj from the town slut. This caused her to run away and not look back. However, this also made her not trust herself or want to ever fall in love again. Kori wasn't able to hide from life though, and one day at a football game, she met the man that changed her life forever, and gave her the best gift ever, a little boy. Just when things finally seem to be going her way, tragedy struck and she lost that man that had healed her. Now Kori must move forward with her life, go back home to be close to her family, and face her past.
Reed did the unforgivable of messing around with another woman. This one act caused him to lose the best thing he ever had. Unfortunately, that isn't the only loss he has had to suffer through. He also lost his mother in a house fire while at work one night, and has never forgiven himself. Yet when Kori comes home, all he can do is hope she will forgive what he did as a stupid drunk young kid afraid of having the woman he loves leave him to go away to school.
These two amazing people suffered through tremendous losses, things that could have broken them and made them into bitter people. Instead, it made them realize that things happen for a reason, sometimes life just sucks, and with the sweet comes the sour.
When they meet up again they must decide if they are going to be able to try and move forward and support each other, if they can be friends again, and if maybe, just maybe, they can move forward.
This book made me laugh, cry (ugly crying while reading is not fun), and fall in love. Of course there were a few times that I wanted to thump both Kori & Reed, but that is what happens when you become invested in these people. Make sure you pick up this amazing book, and start reading.
